Editorial – Basketball vs volleyball: the courage to raise an event’s value

MODENA – In an editorial for Volleyball.it, Luca Muzzioli reflects on the (unofficial) revenue figures circulating around Virtus Bologna–Milca in EuroLeague basketball and what the “event match” concept means in terms of perceived value. "The point is the order of magnitude… a single ‘event’ match moving figures that are hard even to approach in Italian volleyball," he writes, arguing that volleyball’s identity as an accessible, family sport can coexist with targeted experiments—at the very top level—to lift the economic value of selected fixtures through pricing, framing, and positioning.
