Italian Transfer News

CHIERI / SCANDICCI / BERGAMO / ROMA / BRESCIA - The women’s market produced one of the busiest sections of the day. Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76 added Canadian outside hitter Abagayle “Abby” Guezen, born in 2005, after her university path with Alberta. She joins the outside-hitter group after the confirmation of Stella Nervini and the arrival of Logan Eggleston, becoming the eleventh player in the new roster. Guezen arrives with major recognition from Canadian university volleyball and has also just completed the first week of VNL with Canada under Giovanni Guidetti.

Savino Del Bene Scandicci officially brought in Júlia Isabelle Bergmann (photo) for 2026/27. The Brazilian-born, German-nationality outside hitter will play in Italy for the first time after experiences in Brazil, the United States and Turkey. Her last season with Türk Hava Yolları ended with 422 points, 26 blocks and 43 aces, numbers that explain the weight of the signing. In Bergamo, Volley Bergamo 1991 chose youth and upside in the setter position by signing Safa Allaoui, a 2006-born Italy Under 22 player who arrives after experiences between A2 and A1. Ferraro SMI Roma Volley also strengthened at setter, adding Sofia Turlà, a 28-year-old from Ragusa coming off a season in Perugia and bringing previous experience in both A1 and A2, plus a spell in Germany with NawaRo Straubing.

Brescia added two different profiles in the same cycle. Volley Millenium Brescia signed Bulgarian outside hitter Kalina Veneva, born in 2009, already a world champion at Under 19 level and awarded best outside hitter of that tournament. In the men’s game, Atlantide Pallavolo Brescia announced libero Pietro Bonisoli, a Brescia-born player who developed through Brugherio before spending four years with Rana Verona. He arrives with an Under 18 European gold medal and a SuperLega Italian Cup won last season.

Another women’s-market move came from Consolini, where Turkish left-handed opposite Pelin Eroktay, born in 2004 and 190 centimetres tall, completed the opposite department. Her background includes Turkish youth national teams from Under 17 through Under 22, as well as club experiences in Turkey, Kazakhstan and Nepal.

SuperLega And Club Structure

PERUGIA / CIVITANOVA / MONZA - Not all of the day’s most relevant stories were pure transfer moves. At Sir Susa Scai Perugia, Massimo Colaci outlined the next stage of his career as he moves toward a new executive role. Still formally a player until June 30, he has already started working alongside sporting director Goran Vujevic, Andrea Piacentini in the youth sector and team manager Davide Candellaro. From July, he is due to begin a three-year role as technical director, with responsibilities spanning representation, youth development and attention to the Italian market.

In Civitanova, Lube Volley closed its relationship with general manager Giuseppe Cormio (photo) after ten years. The club’s statement was concise, but the separation still marks a significant internal change for one of the main institutions of the Italian men’s game. Vero Volley Monza, meanwhile, added middle blocker Iliya Petkov, a 202-centimetre Bulgarian international who arrives after his SuperLega season with Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina. Petkov brings experience from Bulgaria, France, Poland and Italy, as well as a 2025 World Championship silver medal with Bulgaria.

Men’s Market And A2

CUNEO / TRENTO / GIOIA DEL COLLE / GROTTAZZOLINA / REGGIO EMILIA - The men’s market also moved strongly below the absolute top tier. Cuneo Volley handed the keys of the team to setter Bryan Argilagos (photo), the Italo-Cuban 2007-born player who signed through 2028 after a season with Perugia. He arrives after a year spent learning daily from Simone Giannelli inside a group that won the Club World Championship, Italian Supercup, Scudetto and Champions League. The next step for him is a first true season as a starting setter, while also remaining involved with Italy’s Under 22 side and the senior second group in Cavalese.

Itas Trentino added outside hitter Federico Roberti (photo) from Fano, giving the club another A2-to-SuperLega development profile. In A2 itself, JoyVolley Gioia del Colle officially confirmed its return to Serie A2 Credem Banca, presenting the step as a major milestone for the city and the wider Puglian volleyball community. President Gianni D’Elia, general manager Vincenzo Masi and sporting director Mirko Corsano all framed the move as the beginning of a new phase that must be approached with seriousness and balance.

Yuasa Battery chose continuity by confirming coach Massimiliano Ortenzi (photo) for a nineteenth consecutive season with the first team, this time after relegation and with a nearly rebuilt roster ahead. In Reggio Emilia, Volley Tricolore kept middle blocker Nicholas Sighinolfi, who will also become the team captain in the season of the return to A2.

International

The international file remained busy as well. The broader “other news of the day” package kept the focus on VNL movement and abroad developments, with Italy’s men settling in Ottawa before the opening week and the women’s international scene continuing to shift after the Brazil-Italy tie-break in Brasilia. Outside Italy, roster activity and national-team results continued to build the early-summer picture, underlining how the market and the VNL are now moving in parallel rather than separately.
