SuperLega

Sir Susa Scai Perugia beat Pallavolo Padova 3-0 in a brought-forward 11th-round SuperLega match, winning 25-21, 29-27 and 25-19. The fixture was moved to accommodate Perugia's forthcoming participation in the Club World Championship. Angelo Lorenzetti's side moved on to eight points, while Padova remain without a point after a demanding start to the season.

Padova offered their strongest resistance in the second set, recovering from a sizeable deficit and saving three set points before losing in extra points. Ferre Reggers was named MVP after scoring 16 points at 70 per cent in attack, including two blocks. Padova's Leo Lukas Leodolter led all scorers with 17 points, his best total since moving to Italy. Perugia finished with nine blocks to Padova's four and held a 60 per cent attack efficiency.

The two teams return to third-round action at the weekend. Perugia visit Vero Volley Monza on Saturday 31 October, while Padova travel to Allianz Milano the following day. Both matches are scheduled for 18:00.

Cucine Lube Civitanova have opened their campaign with straight-sets wins over Verona and Padova, but chief executive and vice-president Albino Massaccesi has urged the team to maintain that level in their next away match at Cuneo. He highlighted the need for greater consistency after points were dropped too often during last season's regular season. Cuneo have already taken Perugia to a tie-break at home and came close to winning another five-set match away to Milano.

At Valsa Group Modena, Pardo Mati identified defence, serving and late-set management as the main areas for improvement before the home match against Verona. Modena have lost their opening two fixtures to Trento and Piacenza, although Mati believes the team made progress in the second match. With a young, extensively rebuilt squad, the immediate priority is to establish a clear identity without allowing a difficult early schedule to damage confidence.

Serie A3

Allianz Arbit Brugherio have appointed Nicola Massari captain of both their Serie A3 and Under-19 teams. The 2009-born outside hitter is in his third year with the Diavoli Rosa and will lead the youngest side in the division. He already captains Italy's Under-18 national team and has won the national Under-17 title as well as an Under-19 silver medal.

Massari, who was also named Italy's leading Under-17 player, said his role would be centred on responsibility, balance and keeping the group together during difficult periods. He wants Brugherio's young squad to develop both technically and personally over the course of the season.

Abroad

Energa Indykpol AZS Olsztyn have extended head coach Daniel Pliński's contract until the end of the 2027/28 season. Pliński took charge on 10 February 2025 and won his first match five days later against GKS Katowice. At the time of the announcement, his record stood at 21 victories in 39 matches.

The former Poland international also played for Olsztyn from 2016 to 2018, ending his playing career with the club. His international honours include a World Championship silver medal in 2006 and the European title in 2009. Before taking his current post, he coached Poland's youth national teams and PSG Stal Nysa.
