International Calendar
Sir Safety Perugia president Gino Sirci has publicly opposed the proposed FIVB calendar for 2028-32, using the slogan “No clubs, no volley”. At a press conference attended by Simone Giannelli, Kamil Semeniuk, Oleh Plotnytskyi and head coach Angelo Lorenzetti, Sirci said the plan as presented to clubs would create an international window of about seven weeks in December and January, interrupting domestic leagues in the middle of the season.
Sirci argued that the change would damage clubs during an important period for attendance, broadcasting and sponsorship. Giannelli said players should not be forced to choose between their clubs and national teams, while Semeniuk and Plotnytskyi highlighted the physical and mental difficulty of repeatedly switching between the two environments. Lorenzetti focused on the challenge of keeping players healthy. Sirci said other European clubs and the Italian federation shared Perugia's concerns; according to the conference, a final decision is expected around mid-November.
Club World Championship
Perugia will begin their men's Club World Championship title defence against Sada Cruzeiro in Katowice on 15 December at 20.30 Italian time. The holders will then face Al Ahly on 16 December and Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi on 17 December, with both matches also starting at 20.30.
The eight-team tournament will be played in Poland from 15 to 20 December. The top two teams in each four-team pool will advance to the semi-finals, which will be staged in Częstochowa on 19 December. The bronze-medal match and final follow on 20 December.
CEV Cup
Modena will open their CEV Cup campaign against Bosnia and Herzegovina's OK Napredak Odžak in the round of 64. The first leg will be played away between 10 and 12 November, with the return at the PalaPanini between 17 and 19 November. If Modena progress, they will meet Halkbank Ankara in the next round.
Defending champions Piacenza will enter in the round of 32 against North Macedonian champions UGD Štip, who dropped into the competition after losing to Orions Stars Doetinchem in the Champions League qualifiers. The first leg is scheduled away between 8 and 10 December, before the return at the PalabancaSport on 6 January at 18.00.
