Women’s Serie A2: Club Italia balance development with survival target
Club Italia head coach Juan Manuel Cichello is working with a heavily reshaped squad, with 11 new players among his group of 14.
Based in Parma, the federation’s development programme aims to prepare young players for senior club volleyball and, potentially, the national team. Alongside that longer-term ambition, Cichello has identified avoiding relegation as the immediate target in Serie A2’s new single-pool format.
Ferraro SMI Roma Volley, meanwhile, travelled to Busto Arsizio without Ana Escamilla and Giulia Polesello.
Escamilla left Sunday’s match in the third set, with subsequent tests revealing a partial collateral-ligament injury and a meniscus tear. The club have not announced a timetable for her return.
Polesello continues to receive treatment for inflammation of the tibia.
