SuperLega: Italian leagues and players challenge proposed FIVB calendar
Lega Pallavolo Serie A, Lega Volley Femminile and the Italian Volleyball Players’ Association have joined forces to oppose the proposed FIVB international calendar for 2028–2032, warning of its impact on players and the club game.
Their joint statement raises three main concerns: more matches with less recovery time, a winter break during a key commercial period for clubs, and domestic competitions being squeezed into a seven-month window.
The organisations are calling for changes that safeguard player welfare, support the sport’s long-term sustainability and protect the role of clubs.
Modena face extended Russo absence
Valsa Group Modena are bracing for a longer spell without Roberto Russo, with general manager Alberto Casadei confirming that the middle blocker needs further treatment for a problem dating back to last season.
The club had tried to manage the issue through the opening weeks of the campaign, but further intervention is now required. No timetable has been given for his return.
Casadei also eased concerns over Gabriele Di Martino, explaining that he had experienced fatigue during the previous match. Medical tests ruled out anything serious.
Perugia prepare for Trentino test
Sir Susa Scai Perugia visit Itas Trentino at the BTS Arena on Sunday 8 November in the fifth round of SuperLega.
Head coach Angelo Lorenzetti sees the meeting with Marcelo Méndez’s side as an important test of Perugia’s progress, with valuable points also at stake in the Coppa Italia race.
Lorenzetti wants his players to stay focused throughout and use the challenge to assess what is working well and where they still need to improve.
Transfer news: San Donà bring in libero Gariboldi
Personal Time San Donà have signed libero Samuele Gariboldi for the remainder of the 2026/27 season.
Born in Modena, Gariboldi began playing at Scuola di Pallavolo Anderlini before progressing through Modena Volley’s youth system. He moved to Diavoli Rosa Brugherio in 2022/23, winning territorial, regional and national Under-17 titles.
He was also named best outside hitter at the national Under-17 finals before returning to Modena for his final youth season in 2024/25.
Women’s Serie A2: Club Italia seek response, Trentino face Monviso

Their four-match winning run ended with a straight-sets loss to Monviso, leaving them seventh on 10 points. Blocking remains a strength: Club Italia lead the division with 74 blocks, including 23 from Letizia Feriozzi.
Cremonese arrive with four points from five matches, having lost 3-1 to Imola in their previous outing.
At 17:00, Itas Trentino host Wash4Green Monviso at the Sanbàpolis. Trentino have collected 13 points from four wins and two five-set defeats, while Monviso sit two points behind, having already had their bye.

Abroad: Romanò helps Warszawa through five-set battle
PGE Projekt Warszawa overcame Ślepsk Malow Suwałki 3-2 in Poland, with Yuri Romanò contributing 20 points and libero Damian Wojtaszek earning MVP honours.

In France, Tourcoing beat Arago de Sète 3-0, although the straight-sets scoreline disguised a tight contest, with every set settled by just two points.
In the Polish women’s league, Radomka Radom swept Bielsko-Biała 3-0, building their victory on a 15-6 advantage in blocks.
